Ezeagu is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Enugu State, Nigeria. It has its headquarters in Aguobu-Owa and was created in 1976 from the then old Udi division.
As regards the population size, Ezeagu had a population of 169,718, as shown by the 2006 census report. Its land area is approx. 633km2 with a population projection of about 260,000 in 2025.
The local government is bordered by Udi LGA to the east, Anambra State to the west, Uzo-Uwani LGA to the North and Orji River LGA to the south.
Ezeagu people fondly call their male children ‘Mmuowu’, and the very successful males among them are majorly referred to as ‘Mmuowu Shinne’. This complimentary word, ‘Mmuowu Shinne’ is synonymous with “Odogwu”, – a word generally used all over Igbo land to refer to an influential and wealthy son.
